Checking
Database Integrity
|
|
In unusual circumstances the Database of Realms may become corrupted.
This can be the result of a number of causes such as:
In these circumstances i-Memorize may behave erratically, perhaps displaying the incorrect or empty metadata for a particular object. In these circumstances i-Memorize has a Database Check Utility which may be used to analyze the Realm database and, if necessary, rebuild the database from scratch. As some data, such as object creation dates and authors, cannot always be preserved when the database is rebuilt from scratch, only the analyze functions should be used on a regular basis. In most cases of suspected database corruption i-Memorize will be able to recover most, if not all, of the data. Please note, database analysis and, particularly rebuilding, can be time consuming activities and should not be undertaken unless you have the time to allow them to complete. In order to initiate the Database Check Utilities:
An Alert Message, Fig.2, will be displayed requesting you read this documentation before proceeding. Hit 'OK' to proceed. A Directory Panel will be displayed, Fig. 3, requesting you select a directory to back up the Realm to prior to executing the Database Health Check
The Realm will be backed up and the Check Database Utility Panel, Fig.4, will be displayed requesting you to fill in you credentials Once you hit 'OK' you will be presented with the main Database Health Check Panel, Fig.5, asking you to select:
If you select 'Analyze' the Realm database will be checked for errors and a summary file, Fig. 6 will be displayed If you select 'Rebuild' the Realm database will be rebuilt from scratch. This may be time consuming for large Realms. Once the Realm Database has been rebuilt you must select 'Save DB' on the main Check Database Start Panel in order for the rebuilt database to be available for future activities.
